![]() ![]() ![]() They get slightly better fuel economy with Gasoline rated oil. Mercedes wants to get the highest fuel economy as possible. Diesel oil also has friction modifiers, but not as much. Mercedes uses a Gasoline oil because it has extra friction modifiers. Ask them if the oil is API “CK-4”? That is also for a BlueTec diesel. Call Mobil and ask them if the oil is ACEA approved for “E9”? That’s the oil for a BlueTec diesel. Go to the Mobil Product Data sheet and look for yourself. Mercedes is using a Gasoline engine oil in every new BlueTec diesel. I normally have to think about what I’ll say, because everybody and their Mother gets twisted. I get so many calls about what’s the best oil, that I haven’t had time. I need to rewrite this article about BlueTec diesel oil. ![]()
